In global organizations, the situation is even more complicated where there are many divisions within a department. This amount of information can be overwhelming for some people especially for someone who are a new employee and have a lot to learn about the hierarchy. An organizational chart which is also known as Organogram diagram can help these individuals a lot by explaining all the departments, divisions and most importantly; the employees within the company and their responsibilities.
Applications of Organogram Diagrams
As discussed above that an Organogram diagram can be very helpful for someone who is just hired within the company and has no idea about the departments and his coworkers. This diagram can help these individuals to learn who is at the top of the company, who are executives, how many managers are there within each department and most importantly; how information flows within each department including the responsibilities of each employee and chain of command.
For human resources department, there are certain benefits to gain from this Organogram diagram. With this diagram, the HR department can see how many employees are there within each department, if a certain department needs more employees or if there are excessive workers in a division that can be utilized in other departments. In the same manner, management can also use this chart to see if they need to share responsibilities of an overburden employee or hire a new worker to handle extra load of work.
With the expansion of the business, there is always the need for hiring new employees but that’s usually not required when you already have a huge number of employees within the organization. By looking at the diagram, the supervisor can easily see if a line of production has extra number of workers that are not required depending on the current load of work. This way they can utilize the already working employees to start a new production line instead of hiring new employees.
